About the position

The Cyber Security Analyst at Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) will provide essential cybersecurity support for the MILSATCOM Capability area, focusing on the MILSATCOM portfolio of programs. This role involves ensuring the security of next-generation protected SATCOM systems in support of the US Space Force, requiring technical expertise in systems engineering, integration, and testing. The position emphasizes collaboration within a multidisciplinary team to tackle complex challenges in space communication systems.

Responsibilities

• Propose, coordinate, implement, and enforce Department of the Air Force information system security policies, standards, and methodologies.
• Perform vulnerability assessments using ACAS, DISA STIG, and SCAP Compliance Checker.
• Evaluate security configurations of operating systems and network devices according to DISA guidelines.
• Conduct continuous monitoring, security audits, risk analysis, and develop mitigation strategies for DoD information systems.
• Ensure compliance of software, hardware, and firmware with security configuration guidelines.
• Follow configuration management procedures and coordinate changes with relevant security personnel.
• Recommend protective or corrective measures during system development when vulnerabilities are discovered.
• Report security incidents or vulnerabilities to the system-level ISSM and wing cybersecurity office.
• Prepare certification letters, ATC packages, and Security Impact Assessments with system owners.
• Support the SSC in ensuring security, quality, and regulatory compliance of ATO RMF documentation.
• Attend threat briefings and oversee security program design, incident response plans, and cyber risk assessments.

Requirements

• 2+ years of continuous Information Systems, Information Assurance/Cybersecurity experience.
• Understanding of Risk Management Framework (RMF) DODI 8510.01.
• 2+ years of experience with security controls and implementation as per CNSSI 1253, NIST SP 800-53, and JSIG.
• 2+ years of experience performing vulnerability assessments using ACAS, DISA STIG, and SCAP Compliance Checker.
• 2+ years of experience using SolarWinds and Splunk or other network analysis tools.
• Extensive experience with Linux/Unix Command Line Interface and regular expression queries.
• Ability to read and extract Cisco configuration files.
• 2+ years of experience implementing security configurations according to DISA guidelines.
• 2+ years of experience in continuous monitoring, security audits, and risk analysis for DoD systems.
• Experience identifying Common Criteria and NIAP certified technologies.

Nice-to-haves

• 5+ years of work experience in Cyber Security.
• 5+ years of work experience in System Engineering Architecture/Design.
• DoD Space program experience.
• Security Test and Evaluation (ST&E).
