About the position

The Cyber Security Coordinator is a senior-level technical position within the Information Technology Department of the East Irondequoit Central School District. This role is responsible for the development and management of cyber security programs, analyzing security threats, and implementing measures to protect the organization from potential cyber threats. The coordinator will work closely with information services personnel and department heads to ensure effective execution of security programs and vendor management activities.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate cyber security programs with information services personnel to ensure program execution.
• Perform vendor management activities, ensuring proper support as defined in contracts.
• Monitor cyber and security threats that could affect the department or agency.
• Investigate, evaluate, and implement new technologies.
• Advise department heads and managers regarding cyber security, terrorism, and other data security issues and threats.
• Obtain, budget, negotiate, and submit support contracts for cyber security vendors and other information technology vendors.
• Participate in the development of security procedures.

Requirements

• Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma.
• Master's degree in an information technology or computer science field; OR Bachelor's degree with two years of relevant experience; OR Associate's degree with four years of relevant experience; OR possession of active Industry Standard Certifications with relevant experience.
• Essential knowledge of Microsoft Stack as a security solution including Information Protection Policies, Data Loss Prevention, and Insider Risk Policies.
• Knowledge of cyber security awareness training methodologies for users.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Sentinel and Managed SOC services.
• Understanding of risk assessment practices.
