About the position

The Cyber Security Engineer Associate position at Telos Corporation is designed for individuals who are passionate about information assurance and cybersecurity. This role is critical in supporting the Xacta application suite, which is essential for managing security compliance and risk management for our clients. The successful candidate will engage in various Information Assurance and Cybersecurity activities, ensuring that our clients' IT assets are protected effectively. This position is based in Ashburn, Virginia, with responsibilities extending to customer sites throughout the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area. In this role, you will become familiar with the Xacta Software Suite, including its deployment methodologies and integration with customer security processes. You will provide both technical and programmatic Information Assurance services to internal and external customers, focusing on network and information security systems. Your daily interactions will involve supporting a large user base of Xacta software users, ensuring that administrative support is provided promptly and efficiently. You will work closely with senior security engineers and Program Managers, following established Standard Operating Procedures to administer the Xacta application suite effectively. The position offers a unique opportunity to interface with Security Authorization practitioners, including Information System Security Officers and System Owners, assisting in the development of Security Authorization documentation packages. As you grow in this role, you will have the chance to make recommendations for improving operational efficiency and contribute to the overall security posture of our clients.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and become familiar with the Xacta Software Suite, deployment methodologies, and integration with customer security processes.
  • Provide technical and programmatic Information Assurance/Cybersecurity Services to internal and external customers.
  • Design, develop, and implement security requirements workflows within an organization's business processes.
  • Interact daily with a large user base to provide user support to Xacta software users.
  • Ensure administrative support is provided to the user base in a timely fashion.
  • Work under direct supervision from senior security engineers and Program Managers to complete administrative tasks as prioritized.
  • Provide recommendations to improve efficiency to managers as needed.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures for administering the Xacta application suite.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance and TS/SCI Polygraph, if needed.
  • Bachelor's Degree, or the equivalent combination of education, professional training, or work experience (6 years).
  • Two years of work experience with cybersecurity responsibility such as OS or Application security configuration or risk management and/or assessment processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work tasks autonomously.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with staff located in geographically disparate areas.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills and the ability to interact with people at all levels are required.
  • A professional attitude regarding attention to detail and customer service and excellent organizational skills are required.
  • Detail oriented with an emphasis on high quality of deliverables.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with the Xacta software suite or other GRC automation tools.
  • Previous work in systems security configuration or risk management framework.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools.
  • Familiarity with Docker and/or Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with Cloud Computing environments (i.e. Azure, AWS, OCI, GCP, etc.).
