About the position

As a Cyber Security Engineer at GDIT, you will play a crucial role in building robust cyber defenses using advanced technologies. Your contributions will significantly impact the security of our clients' missions, ensuring that we are prepared for the threats of tomorrow. This position is part of a new contract within the customer's Office of Cyber Security (OCS), where you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining security measures to protect sensitive information and systems. You will work closely with a team of experts to identify vulnerabilities, conduct assessments, and develop strategies to mitigate risks. Your expertise in cybersecurity will be essential in ensuring that our operations are secure and compliant with industry standards. In this role, you will utilize various scanning tools such as NMAP, Nessus, and Rapid7 to analyze security vulnerabilities and provide remediation recommendations. You will also be involved in hardening network and edge devices, ensuring that all systems are fortified against potential threats. Your knowledge of NIST 800-53a controls and the Risk Management Framework will be critical in maintaining compliance and enhancing the overall security posture of the organization. This position requires a proactive approach to cybersecurity, with a focus on continuous improvement and adaptation to the evolving threat landscape.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain security measures to protect sensitive information and systems.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments using tools like NMAP, Nessus, and Rapid7.
  • Analyze security outputs and findings to identify vulnerabilities and recommend remediations.
  • Harden network and edge devices to enhance security.
  • Ensure compliance with NIST 800-53a controls and the Risk Management Framework.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop strategies for mitigating risks.
  • Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity threats and trends.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 2+ years of related experience in cybersecurity.
  • Experience with scanning tools (NMAP, Nessus, Rapid7, etc.) and analyzing outputs/findings.
  • Knowledge of IT security vulnerabilities and remediations.
  • Current TS/SCI w/Polygraph security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • CompTIA Security+ certification.
  • Experience hardening network and edge devices.
  • Familiarity with NIST 800-53a controls.
  • Understanding of the Risk Management Framework.
