About the position

BAE Systems, a leading prime contractor to the U.S. Department of Defense, is seeking an experienced Cyber Security Engineer to join our technology-based program supporting a key government customer. This program is focused on delivering engineering services for network infrastructure and sophisticated enterprise computing infrastructure, which includes end-point devices, data center hosted servers, multi-Cloud services, virtualized applications, and storage systems. The Cyber Security Engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring the security and integrity of these systems, which are vital for national defense and security operations. In this position, you will be responsible for integrating diverse data streams and establishing data standards while acting as the custodian of IT and service delivery data sets. You will analyze complex networks and systems from a security standpoint, including log data from various network components and operating systems, as well as packet capture data. Your expertise in network security will be essential as you manage and troubleshoot data feeds, ensuring that security protocols are adhered to and that any vulnerabilities are addressed promptly. The role requires a strong background in Systems Engineering with a focus on network analysis and engineering. You will need to be familiar with generating logs and metrics from product suites such as Cisco and Juniper, and have the ability to analyze log data effectively. Familiarity with tools like Splunk and programming languages such as Python will be beneficial. The position also involves working with modern application technologies, including containerized solutions and orchestrated workflows, both on customer premises and via remote Cloud services. Responsibilities

  • Integrate diverse data streams and establish data standards.

  • Generate logs and metrics from product suites such as Cisco and Juniper.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in Cyber Security Engineering.
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience in integrating diverse data streams.
  • Ability to analyze complex networks and systems from a security standpoint.
  • Familiarity with analyzing log data from various network components and operating systems.
  • Knowledge of network security and ability to analyze log data.
  • Experience with tools like Splunk and programming languages such as Python.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Security Development and Operations (SecDevOps).
  • Expertise with Splunk.
  • Familiarity with scripting tools including Python, Shell Script, or Ansible.
  • Knowledge of cloud security controls and implementation.
  • Experience with PKI implementation and STIG compliance.
  • Virtualization experience (VDI & VMWare).
  • Experience with public, private, and hybrid Cloud environments (AWS, Microsoft Azure, etc.).
  • CISSP certification.
  • AWS Certified Security Specialty.
