About the position

The Cyber Security Officer is responsible for protecting Birdon’s information system assets and customer data from security threats. This role involves monitoring compliance with security regulations, implementing security solutions, and conducting training programs to ensure adherence to cybersecurity standards. The officer will also manage security incidents and oversee the security of ITAR-related information.

Responsibilities

  • Protect Birdon information system assets and customer data from security threats.
  • Monitor group compliance with SSA operating requirements in conjunction with Birdon leadership.
  • Ensure secure handling of ITAR-related documentation and information.
  • Support ongoing training and compliance for staff regarding ITAR matters.
  • Oversee and implement security solutions and protocols for Birdon’s information and systems.
  • Identify and mitigate security risks and vulnerabilities.
  • Implement monitoring and auditing of systems and processes, including identity and access management.
  • Conduct training and awareness programs for compliance with DCSA, DOD, and Birdon regulations.
  • Manage, investigate, and resolve security incidents and breaches.
  • Conduct automated and manual testing of cybersecurity protections.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years experience in Information Technology roles.
  • Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in cyber security, information security, or governance risk and compliance roles.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearances.
  • Undergraduate degree in information systems, computer science, or a related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity principles and industry standards, including NIST 800-171, 800-53, ISO 27001, and ISO 27002.
  • Familiarity with operating systems and cloud platforms such as Linux, Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Azure, and AWS.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills to convey security policies to non-technical staff.
  • High attention to detail for implementing and maintaining security measures.
  • Commitment to continuous learning in cybersecurity trends and technologies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in manufacturing or defense industries.
  • Experience in management of Facility Clearance and Security Agreement under DCSA guidelines.
