About the position

The Cybersecurity Lead is responsible for spearheading various cybersecurity initiatives, formulating and implementing security policies, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. This role requires a proactive approach to assessing and mitigating cybersecurity risks, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and responding promptly to security incidents. In this key position, the Cybersecurity Lead actively monitors networks, systems, and applications to identify and thwart potential threats. The role demands strong leadership and technical expertise to evaluate emerging technologies, recommend security solutions, and enhance the overall security posture of the organization. Staying informed about evolving threats and the latest developments in the cybersecurity landscape is crucial, as the Cybersecurity Lead will provide recommendations for continuous improvement to preserve the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data and systems. The responsibilities encompass a broad range of security tasks, including the day-to-day administration of network security devices and management of technologies such as firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems, data loss prevention, antivirus, anti-spam, antispyware, and security information and event management (SIEM) tools. The Cybersecurity Lead will also serve as a technical lead and mentor to a team of cybersecurity professionals, guiding them in executing cybersecurity initiatives and improving the accuracy and effectiveness of threat detection. Additionally, the role involves collaborating with the Security Operations Manager to assess and prioritize cybersecurity risks and vulnerabilities, monitoring and responding to security incidents, assisting with security audits, and evaluating cybersecurity technologies to enhance the organization’s security posture. The Cybersecurity Lead will also develop and maintain incident response plans, disaster recovery plans, and business continuity strategies to ensure resilience against cybersecurity threats. This position does not have any direct reports or employee administration responsibilities, but it does require participation in an on-call rotation with the department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in the field of cybersecurity.
  • Proven track record of leading and managing cybersecurity initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience in formulating and implementing cybersecurity strategies and policies.
  • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, technologies, and best practices.
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards such as GDPR, HIPAA, or ISO 27001.
  • Experience in conducting security audits, vulnerability assessments, and risk analysis.
  • Previous experience in incident response and managing security incidents.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Leadership skills, including the ability to mentor and manage a team.
