About the position

The Cyber Security Operations Lead position at Ball Corporation is a pivotal role within the Global IT Security team, dedicated to addressing complex IT security challenges through innovative technical solutions. This position is integral to safeguarding the organization's digital assets, ensuring the confidentiality and integrity of data, and strengthening the technology infrastructure against cybersecurity threats. The Cybersecurity Lead will spearhead various cybersecurity initiatives, formulate and implement security policies, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. This role requires active collaboration with cross-functional teams and a proactive approach to monitoring networks, systems, and applications to identify and mitigate potential threats. In this role, the Cybersecurity Lead will be responsible for a wide range of security tasks, including the day-to-day administration of network security devices and the management of various security technologies such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, data loss prevention tools, and security information and event management (SIEM) systems. The position also involves mentoring a team of cybersecurity professionals, providing guidance in executing cybersecurity initiatives, and developing strategies to enhance the organization's security posture. The Cybersecurity Lead will stay informed about evolving threats and trends in the cybersecurity landscape, making recommendations for continuous improvement to protect the organization's data and systems. The position requires a strong focus on incident response, including leading investigations, documenting incidents, and developing incident response plans. The Cybersecurity Lead will also conduct security audits and assessments to identify vulnerabilities and recommend remediation actions. This role is essential for maintaining the organization's resilience against cybersecurity threats and ensuring effective communication of complex cybersecurity concepts to non-technical stakeholders. The Cybersecurity Lead will participate in an on-call rotation and collaborate closely with the Security Operations Manager to prioritize cybersecurity risks across the organization's technology landscape.

Responsibilities

  • Spearhead cybersecurity initiatives and formulate security policies.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.
  • Assess and mitigate cybersecurity risks across the organization.
  • Monitor networks, systems, and applications for potential threats.
  • Lead incident response efforts and coordinate investigations.
  • Conduct security audits and vulnerability assessments.
  • Develop and maintain incident response and disaster recovery plans.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to a team of cybersecurity professionals.
  • Evaluate and recommend cybersecurity technologies and solutions.
  • Stay current with cybersecurity threats and trends.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in cybersecurity.
  • Proven track record of leading and managing cybersecurity initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, technologies, and best practices.
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards such as GDPR, HIPAA, or ISO 27001.
  • Experience in conducting security audits, vulnerability assessments, and risk analysis.
  • Previous experience in incident response and managing security incidents.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Leadership skills, including the ability to mentor a team.
  • A solid understanding of emerging threats and cybersecurity trends.
