The Virginia Department of Emergency Management is seeking qualified candidates for our Cyber Security Program Manager position in the Public Safety & Homeland Security Division. The Cyber Security Program Manager is responsible for overseeing the development and integration of public safety and homeland security capabilities to improve the Commonwealth's ability to identify, protect, detect, respond to, and recover from cyber threats. The Cyber Security Program Manager will be responsible for providing routine, direct, and comprehensive hands-on program management support to local governments across the state. The incumbent in this position must be able to conduct research and analysis, as well as provide suggestions on present and future cyber security capabilities including programs supported by the state, higher education institutions, public-private partnerships, and the federal government. The ideal candidate should be capable of fostering rapport, consensus, and collaboration among varied public safety experts, as well as coordinating between private sector, state and federal representatives to promote information sharing and capabilities integration. The incumbent in this position will serve as the cyber security subject matter expert for the Secretary of Public Safety and Homeland Security, in addition to the Commonwealth of Virginia's point of contact for any cyber security-related issues. All VDEM employees are designated as essential personnel and may be required to work during emergency situations, such as inclement weather, and natural or man-made disasters/events as directed. This may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official Employee Work Profile.
