About the position

The Sr. Director, Automation and Cyber Engineering at GDIT is responsible for leading the design and implementation of advanced automation solutions and cybersecurity capabilities for clients in the Homeland Security Sector. This role involves collaborating with clients to understand their needs, developing comprehensive architectures, and overseeing the integration of cutting-edge technologies to enhance security measures. The position requires a strategic leader who can mentor teams, manage projects, and ensure compliance with industry standards while addressing current and future cybersecurity threats.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and architecture of complex infrastructure automation and cybersecurity solutions.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their business objectives, security requirements, and risk management strategies.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive architectures and managed service offerings that address current and future threats.
  • Oversee the deployment and integration of AI, multi-cloud, and cybersecurity technologies.
  • Provide strategic guidance on cybersecurity initiatives, including risk assessments and incident response planning.
  • Lead and mentor teams of infrastructure and cybersecurity architects and engineers.
  • Prepare and present detailed architectural plans, reports, and recommendations to senior leadership and clients.
  • Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources to ensure successful delivery of cybersecurity solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 12-15 years of experience in cybersecurity, with at least 7 years in a senior architecture or solution design role.
  • Direct experience with CISA and other federal agencies.
  • Extensive knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, CIS Controls).
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing complex security architectures and managed services.
  • Proficiency in advanced cybersecurity technologies and solutions (e.g., SIEM, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, firewalls, cloud security).
  • Strong strategic planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, TOGAF, or similar are highly desirable.
