About the position

The Cyber Security Systems Engineer will provide engineering services for network infrastructure and sophisticated enterprise computing systems, including end-point devices, data center servers, multi-Cloud services, and virtualized applications. This role is crucial in assessing and mitigating system security threats and risks throughout the program life cycle, contributing to security planning, risk analysis, and certification activities. The position supports a key government customer and aims to enhance security infrastructure and ensure a secure network environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and mitigate system security threats/risks throughout the program life cycle.
  • Contribute to security planning, assessment, risk analysis, and risk management activities.
  • Document security control implementations and gather artifacts supporting the Risk Management Framework (RMF).
  • Write Systems Security Plans (SSP) and other A&A related documents in the Xacta application.
  • Support Accreditation and Authorization (A&A) reviews by ISSO/M and Security Controls Assessor (SCA).
  • Coordinate with contractor and staff personnel to obtain A&A content and navigate the A&A process.
  • Keep track of A&A project statuses and manage re-submissions for accreditation.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 16 years' experience supporting A&A projects.
  • Strong multi-tasking skills and effective communication abilities.
  • Knowledge of complex network environments with shared networks and multiple security enclaves.
  • Ability to translate technical implementation into easily understood security documentation.
  • Experience with security tools such as Xacta, RoadRunner, Rapid 7, WebInspect, App Detective, and Splunk.
  • Public, private, and hybrid Cloud experience (AWS, Microsoft Azure).
  • Virtualization experience (VDI & VMWare).
  • CISSP or GSLC certification preferred.
  • AWS Certified Security Specialty certification preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Basic knowledge of Cloud security control implementation, PKI implementation, STIG compliance, and vulnerability management.
  • Experience in Security Development and Operations (SecDevOps).
  • Basic Excel and Microsoft Office365 skills.
