About the position

The Cyber Security Technical Analyst at Idaho National Laboratory will work within the SMC Security department, focusing on analyzing security aspects of information systems and supporting daily security operations. The role involves conducting risk assessments, collaborating with various stakeholders, and implementing security measures to protect the organization's cyber infrastructure. The position operates on a 4x10 schedule, providing a work-life balance with every Friday off.

Responsibilities

  • Identify cyber capabilities strategies for custom hardware and software development based on mission requirements.
  • Conduct or support authorized penetration testing on enterprise network assets.
  • Evaluate network infrastructure vulnerabilities to enhance capabilities being developed.
  • Build, install, configure, and test dedicated cyber defense hardware.
  • Help assess the impact of implementing and sustaining a dedicated cyber defense infrastructure.
  • Conduct technology assessment and integration processes.
  • Collaborate with others to identify appropriate solutions technology.
  • Identify functional- and security-related features to find opportunities for new capability development to exploit or avoid vulnerabilities.
  • Review and validate data mining and data warehousing processes, and requirements.
  • Research current technology to understand capabilities of required system or network.
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable cyber defense policies, regulations, and compliance documents specifically related to cyber defense auditing.
  • Implement Risk Management Framework (RMF)/Security Assessment and Authorization (SA&A) requirements for dedicated cyber defense systems within the enterprise.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related technical field (computer science, computer engineering, or closely related field) and 5 years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree and 2 years of relevant experience; or a doctorate and 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Must have, or be able to obtain within 6 months, DoD 8570.01 M - IAT/IAM Level I certification.
  • Must be a US citizen and have the ability and willingness to obtain and maintain a 'Q' clearance with appropriate sigma's and SCI clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with ICS/SCADA/PIT Systems.
  • Direct technical experience working in Enhanced Security Environments.
