About the position

The Software Engineer Staff position at Lockheed Martin focuses on advancing aerospace and defense technology through the F-35 program. The role involves developing and testing software for the F-35 fighter jet, with an emphasis on system testing, security analysis, and compliance to ensure the software is secure and effective. The position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to achieve project milestones and deliverables, while adhering to cybersecurity protocols and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with systems and software engineers for system testing coordination and results analysis.
  • Conduct static code analysis and assist with peer reviews to enhance system security and software quality.
  • Support working sessions for source code inspection focusing on software assurance analysis.
  • Develop Security Assessment Evaluation Reports (SAERs) and review Software Bill of Materials (SBOM) for vulnerabilities and risks.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to achieve project milestones and deliverables.
  • Facilitate working sessions to respond to Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) items for risk mitigation.
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies and apply knowledge to enhance F-35 software systems.
  • Adhere to company policies and cybersecurity protocols to ensure system integrity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent field.
  • 5 years of professional experience or 3 years with a related master's degree.
  • Experience in designing, coding, and debugging applications in languages such as C#/C++, Bash, Ansible, Python, or PowerShell.
  • Experience with static and dynamic code analysis.
  • DoD 8570/8140 compliance certification (Sec+ or equivalent).
  • Active or ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge in fault tolerance software and RMF compliance with Fortify.
  • Experience in automating secure systems for cyber operations.
  • Knowledge of software architectures and processing approaches.
  • Experience with SBOM creation and validation.
  • Experience with Security Assessment Evaluation Reports (SAERs).
  • Experience with virtualized environments and containers.
  • Experience in Hardware/Software Integration.
  • Experience working in an AGILE environment.
  • Familiarity with JIRA/Confluence and Gitlab/Github for CI/CD implementation.
