About the position

As a Cyber Systems Engineer at Peraton, you will play a crucial role in monitoring, analyzing, and detecting cyber events and incidents within information systems and networks. This position involves assisting with integrated cyber defense, establishing frameworks for measuring cyber risk, and implementing security systems. You will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with security standards, mentoring junior engineers, and serving as a Subject Matter Expert in data flows and storage in a Cloud-Based Warehouse.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, analyze, and detect cyber events and incidents within information systems and networks.
  • Assist with integrated, dynamic cyber defense and maintain security toolsets for continuous monitoring.
  • Establish a framework for measuring and quantifying cyber risk.
  • Determine security requirements by evaluating business strategies and conducting risk assessments.
  • Implement security systems by specifying intrusion detection methodologies and preparing preventive measures.
  • Verify security systems by developing and implementing test scripts.
  • Maintain security by ensuring compliance with standards and conducting incident response analyses.
  • Design, develop, implement, and integrate DoD IA architectures and systems.
  • Lead/manage ticket reviews and provide Scrum Master support when needed.
  • Work with developers to design and execute the delivery of capabilities and software dependencies.
  • Mentor and coach junior system engineers and provide backup support.
  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert in data flows and storage in a Cloud-Based Warehouse.
  • Lead and coordinate high-level customer meetings and ensure proper attendees are present.
  • Assist in discussions to efficiently store data and ensure data integrity.
  • Lead system re-certification activities and provide necessary evidence/artifacts.
  • Provide hands-on support to discover and manage data using custom tools/scripts.
  • Support Transition & Decommissioning activities and historical data migrations.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
  • Ten years of experience as a Systems Engineer in similar programs and contracts.
  • Bachelor's degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline.
  • Five years of additional SE experience may substitute for a bachelor's degree.
  • Experience defining requirements and creating architecture diagrams.
  • Compliance experience and incident reporting experience.
  • Experience with modern Query and Presentation Tools.
  • Experience using JIRA/Confluence.
