About the position

The Cyber Systems Engineering Senior Associate position at Peraton involves providing technical services for NOAA's FISMA High systems and networks, focusing on enhancing cyber security measures. The role is critical in supporting NOAA's mission by ensuring the integrity and security of core networks and information, particularly in the context of space weather observations. This position is contingent on contract award and requires a strong background in systems engineering and cyber security.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical services for NOAA FISMA High systems and networks, including software/hardware patching and NIST 800-53 high-impact security control configurations.
  • Support the NOAA cyber security mission by building, configuring, troubleshooting, and updating network security capabilities.
  • Monitor network connectivity and ensure high-quality data transmission using standard network tools.
  • Create established network security processes to defend and operate the national NOAA network.
  • Provide technical expertise to large or complex projects.
  • Establish and maintain standard operating procedures for operations team members.

Requirements

  • Active Public Trust clearance
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with BS/BA, 0 years of experience with MS/MA or 6 years with no degree.
  • Experience with Information Assurance (IA) hardening and compliance, i.e. STIG & DSS compliance documentation.
  • Network and firewall engineering experience with designing, implementation, and maintaining layer 2 and 3 networking devices and/or firewall devices.
  • Strong knowledge of the OSI 7-layer model, TCP/IP, and common application layer protocols.
  • Experience working with the Atlassian tool suite, including Jira, Insight, Confluence, Risk Register, Crucible, etc.
