About the position

As a Cyber Security Engineer in the Program Protection Organization at Lockheed Martin, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, deploying, and maintaining advanced System Security architectures and countermeasures for innovative missile and fire control products. This role involves working closely with various engineering teams to ensure the security of embedded systems throughout the development life cycle, particularly for Department of Defense (DoD) weapon systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement System Security Engineering (SSE) processes for DoD Weapon Systems.
  • Assess and mitigate System Security threats and risks during the development life cycle.
  • Validate and analyze System Security Engineering requirements.
  • Implement hardware and software solutions for System Security Engineering.
  • Verify the implementation of system security requirements.
  • Analyze vulnerabilities and threats against product designs.
  • Prototype and test System Security countermeasures against cyber-attacks.
  • Collaborate with Hardware, Firmware, Software, and Systems Engineers to integrate System Security Engineering into embedded systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience with 14 years of professional experience, or 12 years with a related Master's degree.
  • Experience with the DoD systems development life-cycle (SDLC).
  • Experience implementing System Security requirements for DoD systems.
  • Experience supporting validation and verification of security requirements on DoD systems.
  • Experience with embedded systems design.
  • Possess or be able to obtain a DoD 8570 baseline certification for IAT/IAM Level II (CISSP, CAP, etc.).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience developing embedded DoD National Security Systems (NSS).
  • Design experience through the DoD SDLC for embedded system security solutions.
  • Tactical and strategic thinking with creative problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Experience with embedded system vulnerability scanning and Software Assurance (SwA) activities.
  • Strong understanding of System Security Engineering (SSE) principles and processes (NIST SP 800-161).
  • Experience in identifying and verifying NIST SP 800-53 Security Controls on DoD systems.
  • Familiarity with missile and aircraft fire control system interfaces and operations.
  • Experience with Open System Architecture design and partitioning.
  • Understanding of Critical Program Information (CPI) assessment and protection strategies.
  • Knowledge of NSA-approved cryptographic standards and methods.
  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools.
