About the position

The Cybersecurity Advisor, DC will conduct comprehensive assessments of cybersecurity practices and strategies, ensuring the security and protection of critical information systems and data. This role is crucial in identifying vulnerabilities, recommending improvements, and translating technical findings into clear and actionable insights for the government. The position is temporary for six months, and as a federal contractor, CNI is a drug-free workplace adhering to the Federal Controlled Substance Act. The advisor will be responsible for conducting in-depth reviews of cybersecurity assessments performed by other government contractors, evaluating assessment reports to identify strengths and potential vulnerabilities or gaps. They will provide expert analysis of cybersecurity controls and their effectiveness, review and advise on the strategic deployment and utilization of cybersecurity assets, and make informed recommendations on how to best protect information systems and data. In collaboration with project teams, the advisor will ensure that cybersecurity measures align with organizational goals, identify potential flaws or areas for improvement in cybersecurity strategies, and suggest enhancements to ensure robust and effective security measures. The advisor will also interpret complex cybersecurity reports and translate technical jargon into clear, layman's terms, creating concise, understandable written assessments for government stakeholders. They will prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations effectively, providing regular updates on assessment findings, improvements, and recommendations. The advisor is expected to plan daily activities within the guidelines of company policy and supervisor's instructions to maximize personal output and is responsible for their own self-development by being receptive to all training made available by the company.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth reviews of cybersecurity assessments conducted by other government contractors.
  • Evaluate assessment reports to identify areas of strength and potential vulnerabilities or gaps.
  • Provide expert analysis of cybersecurity controls and their effectiveness.
  • Review and advise on the strategic deployment and utilization of cybersecurity assets.
  • Make informed recommendations on how to best protect information systems and data.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure cybersecurity measures align with organizational goals.
  • Identify potential flaws or areas for improvement in cybersecurity strategies and recommendations.
  • Suggest enhancements to ensure robust and effective security measures.
  • Work closely with project teams to implement recommended improvements.
  • Interpret complex cybersecurity reports and translate technical jargon into clear, layman's terms.
  • Create concise, understandable written assessments for government stakeholders.
  • Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations effectively.
  • Collaborate with the government Project Manager and other stakeholders to align cybersecurity efforts with project objectives.
  • Provide regular updates and reports on assessment findings, improvements, and recommendations.
  • Ensure timely communication of critical cybersecurity information.
  • Plan daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description, and supervisor's instruction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security or a related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years' relevant experience; Master's degree preferred.
  • Possess a high level of expertise in cybersecurity practices, controls, and regulations.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical skills to assess intricate security details and articulate their implications.
  • Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity trends, threats, and best practices.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to conduct research into IT security issues and products as required.
  • Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed with keen attention to detail.
  • Team-oriented and skilled in working within a collaborative environment.
