About the position

The Cybersecurity Analyst I position at Touchette Regional Hospital involves 3rd shift (overnight) monitoring of the health of the hospital's security threat posture and cybersecurity and network infrastructure. The role requires developing a deep understanding of the threat landscape and ensuring that cybersecurity technology is monitored to detect potential threats. The analyst will work closely with the IS Security Officer to ensure that cybersecurity plans, controls, processes, standards, policies, and procedures are aligned with the IT and cybersecurity standards of Touchette Regional Hospital and SIHF Healthcare. In this role, the analyst will be responsible for developing, documenting, maintaining, and communicating the governance models and compliance codes and standards for Touchette Regional Hospital and SIHF Healthcare. They will also be tasked with developing and maintaining necessary documentation for all network applications and systems, assisting with network infrastructure, security, and maintenance across a multi-hospital and multi-healthcare clinic environment. The position includes responsibilities such as monitoring endpoint anti-virus and malware solutions, content-filtering, data loss prevention solutions, multi-factor authentication systems, and firewall rules. The analyst will conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards to support network and security procurement and development efforts. They will install and maintain network and security operating systems, ensure routine backups, and maintain system documentation. Additionally, the analyst will develop vulnerability remediation documentation and assist in the remediation of vulnerabilities on both server and network systems, both in the cloud and physical environments. The role requires the analyst to develop skills necessary to manage network security solutions, including Cisco ASA Firewalls, Meraki Security Appliances, and VPN technologies. They will also be responsible for developing expertise in scanning and monitoring networks for attacks and threats, understanding the organization's current threat posture, and using various tools to gauge potential impacts to business processes. The analyst will work with the IS Security Officer to develop policies and training to ensure compliance with security policies and procedures, provide cybersecurity and network support for operational systems, and execute risk management initiatives. The position may require on-call support and the ability to support network or security changes during normal business hours, after-hours, weekends, or holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor endpoint anti-virus & malware solutions, content-filtering, and data loss prevention solutions during 3rd shift.
  • Assist with network infrastructure, network security, and network maintenance in a multi-hospital & multi-healthcare clinic environment.
  • Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards for procurement and development efforts.
  • Install and maintain network & security operating systems, ensuring routine backups and secure storage of files.
  • Develop vulnerability remediation documentation and assist in the remediation of vulnerabilities on server and network systems.
  • Document systems with vulnerabilities that cannot be remediated and develop action plans to secure those devices.
  • Install, configure, and maintain network cabling and networking/security equipment such as switches and firewalls.
  • Develop skills to manage network security solutions including Cisco ASA Firewalls and Meraki Security Appliances.
  • Scan and monitor networks for attacks, malicious software, intrusions, and threats.
  • Develop an understanding of the organization's threat posture and use tools to gauge potential impacts.
  • Develop attack and penetration technologies to reduce the threat landscape.
  • Work with the IS Security Officer to develop policies and training for employees on security procedures.
  • Provide cybersecurity and network support for operational systems and assist in business planning and troubleshooting.
  • Execute risk management initiatives to assess risk and gather information for policy updates.
  • Research and interpret risks and impacts of new technology and provide updates to the IS Security Officer.
  • Develop monitoring use cases and assess the effectiveness of digital controls.
  • Engage and communicate effectively with internal personnel and external vendors.
  • Educate business units on IT or cybersecurity strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Execute projects and programs for the Network and Security team as required.
  • Develop methods or propose technologies to protect data at rest when required.
  • Provide first level technical support to users concerning Network, OS & Security System Operations.
  • Perform monthly patching of operating systems and applications to ensure systems are up-to-date.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree preferred in computer science, cybersecurity, network engineering, or equivalent work experience.
  • Professional certification preferred (CCNA Security), (Security+) considered, with the ability to obtain a CCNA Routing & Switching in 6 months.
  • Fundamental knowledge of networking & security concepts.
  • Understanding of the OSI model, well-known and reserved ports, and network cabling specifications.
  • Hands-on technical troubleshooting capabilities (physical, virtual, logical).
  • Ability to diagnose network cabling or connectivity issues.
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring tools.
  • Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving ability.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to assist non-technical individuals with complex technical issues.
  • Teamworking skills and attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Cisco ISE and Meraki products.
  • Knowledge of firewall configurations and management.
  • Familiarity with VPN technologies and configurations.
