About the position

The Cybersecurity Analyst I position at the City of Virginia Beach is responsible for providing 24/7 information security operations services within the City's information security program. The role involves monitoring and operating security applications, participating in incident response, and ensuring compliance with security policies. The ideal candidate will have experience in large enterprise security programs and a strong understanding of cybersecurity best practices.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and operate SEIM applications.
• Use network and/or system monitoring applications.
• Operate an enterprise class anti-virus/anti-malware system including policy, scanning, and remediation activities.
• Participate in cyber security related incidents.
• Triage network, system and/or cybersecurity events.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or related technology field.
• 1+ years of experience in cybersecurity or related discipline.
• Knowledge of principles of cyber security best practices and concepts.
• Familiarity with NIST Cyber Security Framework and ISO 27001 Framework.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime when required.

Nice-to-haves

• BS/BA degree in related discipline strongly preferred (i.e. Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or similar technical degree).
• Holds one or more of the following certifications: Security+ or CCNA Security.
