About the position

The Cybersecurity Analyst (ISSO) position at Edgewater Federal Solutions involves providing high-level technical advice and guidance on critical IT cybersecurity issues. The role focuses on cybersecurity system documentation, conducting risk and vulnerability assessments, and ensuring compliance with federal security standards. The analyst will work closely with management and technical specialists to develop and implement security policies and procedures, supporting the Department of Energy remotely from Germantown, Maryland.

Responsibilities

  • Act as an advisor to system owners and authorizing officials on cybersecurity matters.
  • Assist with the development of required cybersecurity documentation including system security plans and incident response plans.
  • Work with the Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) to maintain the system's Authority to Operate (ATO).
  • Assist in creating and maintaining organizational procedures on cybersecurity matters.
  • Provide guidance to system administrators on maintaining security posture of authorized systems.
  • Conduct security assessments of information systems in adherence to FISMA, FIPS, and NIST requirements.
  • Perform risk assessments and analysis to support organizational risk tolerance.
  • Research and publish notifications addressing major information security threats.
  • Conduct vulnerability scanning of information systems and analyze findings.
  • Monitor information system's continuous diagnostics and mitigation (CDM) tools.

Requirements

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain Federal Security Clearance at Secret or higher level.
  • A bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a relevant field.
  • 3-4 years of progressively responsible cybersecurity experience.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information related to information systems.
  • General knowledge of information technologies including hardware, software, operating systems, and networking protocols.
  • Familiarity with CDM tools such as CarbonBlack, ForeScout, Tennable, Varonis, and Splunk.
  • Familiarity with FISMA and Security Assessment and Accreditation (SA&A) processes.
