About the position

The Cybersecurity Analyst/Lead Vulnerability Assessment Analyst will oversee and conduct vulnerability assessments to identify and mitigate risks to the organization's IT infrastructure. This role requires advanced expertise in vulnerability management, threat analysis, and security compliance, particularly in relation to DOD 8140 standards. The ideal candidate will lead teams, manage complex security assessments, and ensure compliance with federal regulations and organizational policies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of vulnerability assessment analysts in identifying, assessing, and mitigating security vulnerabilities across the organization.
  • Develop and implement vulnerability management strategies, including the identification of potential threats, vulnerabilities, and risks.
  • Conduct regular security assessments, penetration tests, and audits to ensure compliance with DOD 8140 and other relevant regulations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address vulnerabilities and implement remediation strategies.
  • Provide expert guidance on the development and implementation of security controls to protect against cyber threats.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations on vulnerability assessment findings, risks, and recommended actions.
  • Stay updated with the latest cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and mitigation techniques.
  • Ensure compliance with federal regulations, industry standards, and organizational policies related to cybersecurity.
  • Mentor and train junior analysts on vulnerability assessment techniques, tools, and best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in cybersecurity, with a focus on vulnerability assessments and management.
  • Proven experience leading and managing cybersecurity teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of DOD 8140 compliance requirements.
  • Strong understanding of common vulnerabilities and exposures (CVEs) and experience using vulnerability assessment tools (e.g., Nessus, Qualys, OpenVAS).
  • Experience with threat modeling, risk assessment methodologies, and security frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance and be eligible for T5 Clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certifications - CISSO or CPTE or CySA+ or CFR or FITSP-A or GCSA or GPEN or CCE or CISA or CISM or GCIH or GSNA
  • Experience with cloud security and understanding of securing cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with incident response and digital forensics.
