About The Position
Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking a Cybersecurity Analyst to join its Enterprise Cybersecurity (VEC) team. Located in Nashville, Tennessee, VUMC operates at the intersection of teaching, discovery, and patient care, and is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment. The Cybersecurity Analyst will play a crucial role in assessing the network for vulnerabilities and mitigating potential security threats. This position involves close collaboration with senior security analysts to monitor, analyze, and respond to security incidents, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of network resources. The Analyst will conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration tests to identify weaknesses in the network infrastructure. They will assist in analyzing security logs and alerts to detect potential security incidents and report them to the appropriate support teams. The role requires staying informed about the latest security trends and vulnerabilities to proactively address emerging security issues. Additionally, the Analyst will help develop and implement security policies, procedures, and controls, leveraging Open-Source Intelligence to secure network assets. The Cybersecurity Analyst will be expected to conduct vulnerability scans, provide timely reports to stakeholders, and identify vulnerabilities that need remediation. They will also participate in internal penetration testing exercises and provide detailed reports on their findings. The position requires a basic understanding of operating systems, software packages, networking, and patching procedures, as well as the ability to troubleshoot and escalate issues as they arise. The Analyst will also provide consulting services to VUMC support personnel and assist in various cybersecurity-centric projects, demonstrating effective time and resource management skills while working both independently and as part of a team.
