About the position

The Cybersecurity Analyst position at the Rhode Island Office of the Attorney General is a contracted role focused on enhancing the security posture of the organization. The analyst will be responsible for digital forensics, threat hunting, and implementing security measures to protect computer systems and networks. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with various regulatory requirements and safeguarding sensitive information.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive analysis to identify and categorize threats, including phishing attacks and malware.
  • Perform regular audits of user accounts and access to ensure compliance with IAM technology and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage cloud application security for platforms like Office 365, G-Suite, and Azure.
  • Maintain and monitor the EDR and SIEM environment along with other security technologies.
  • Prepare documentation on the organization's security state, providing insights and remediation recommendations.
  • Monitor and identify patching requirements for network hardware.
  • Foster effective communication with team members to share critical information.
  • Promote best practice security strategies to mitigate threats.
  • Demonstrate proficient project management, organizational, and communication skills.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with forensic security tools for cyber threat detection and response.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Threat Analysis with a deep understanding of threat landscapes.
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, cybersecurity, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous exposure to Managed Service Provider (MSP), Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP), or Managed Detection and Response (MDR) environments.
  • Ability to discern patterns and anomalies across diverse threat vectors.
  • Experience with various industry best practices and standards regarding cybersecurity.
  • Experience with log aggregation technologies.
