About the position

The Cybersecurity Analyst position involves planning, implementing, and upgrading security measures to protect digital files and information systems for a federal government client. The role requires a proactive approach to security, including vulnerability testing, risk analysis, and conducting security audits. The analyst will also be responsible for training employees on security awareness and coordinating with external vendors to ensure comprehensive security protocols are in place.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement and upgrade security measures and controls
• Establish plans and protocols to protect digital files and information systems against unauthorized access, modification and/or destruction
• Maintain data and monitor security access
• Perform vulnerability testing, risk analyses and security assessments
• Conduct internal and external security audits
• Write custom code and build Cybersecurity solutions/applications
• Anticipate security alerts, incidents and disasters and reduce their likelihood
• Manage network, intrusion detection and prevention systems
• Analyze security breaches to determine their root cause
• Recommend and install appropriate tools and countermeasures
• Define, implement and maintain corporate security policies
• Train fellow employees in security awareness and procedures
• Coordinate security plans with outside vendors

Requirements

• 3 years of experience in cybersecurity
• BS in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or Engineering
• Proficiency in IDS/IPS, penetration and vulnerability testing
• Knowledge of DLP, anti-virus and anti-malware
• Understanding of TCP/IP, computer networking, routing and switching
• Experience with firewall and intrusion detection/prevention protocols
• Familiarity with Windows, UNIX, and Linux operating systems
• Knowledge of network protocols and packet analysis tools
• Experience with cloud computing and SaaS models
• Familiarity with SIEM & SOC
