About the position

The Cybersecurity and Forensics Faculty position at the Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) is a full-time role focused on teaching a variety of courses in cybersecurity and digital forensics within the Networking Department of the School of Business, Technology and Law. The faculty member will be responsible for a full load of instruction during the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters, which includes not only teaching but also engaging in college and community service, student advising, departmental support, and ongoing professional development. The position may require teaching at multiple campuses and scheduling classes during days, evenings, or weekends, making flexibility a key aspect of the role. The ideal candidate will demonstrate enthusiasm for the subject matter and pedagogy, employing best teaching practices to foster hands-on learning experiences for students. A commitment to student success and effective communication is essential, as the faculty member will be expected to provide clear and effective instruction, maintain organized instructional materials, and offer timely feedback on student assessments. Candidates should possess a Master's Degree in Cybersecurity or a related field, along with two years of relevant industry experience. Teaching experience is also crucial, with a minimum of two years of full-time college-level teaching or four years of adjunct instruction preferred. Online teaching experience is a plus, as the role may involve utilizing technology-based instruction methods. The position emphasizes the importance of maintaining professional expertise through ongoing development and scholarship, including the maintenance of industry certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a variety of cybersecurity and digital forensics courses in the Networking Department.
  • Develop and provide clear and effective instruction using traditional and technology-based methods.
  • Meet all assigned classes during instructional periods.
  • Communicate effectively with students regarding academic information, policies, and feedback.
  • Provide program-related student advising and conduct required office hours.
  • Maintain the Learning Management System (e.g., Brightspace) for student access to course materials.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on curricular development and assessment practices.
  • Attend and participate in committee, departmental, College, and School meetings.
  • Engage in college and community service initiatives.
  • Maintain and develop professional expertise through ongoing professional development.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Cybersecurity or a related field.
  • Two years of related industry experience in cybersecurity or digital forensics.
  • Two years of full-time college-level teaching experience in the discipline or four years of adjunct instruction.
  • Preferred online teaching experience.
