About the position

As a Cybersecurity Co-op at Liberty Mutual, you will be part of the team responsible for auditing all of Liberty Mutual's internal control systems. This role is designed for individuals who are currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science, or a related field, and who are eager to gain hands-on experience in the cybersecurity domain within the insurance industry. In this position, you will work both independently and collaboratively on a variety of projects. Your responsibilities will include interviewing personnel, performing test work, analyzing results, and communicating audit issues. This role provides robust on-the-job training that allows you to fine-tune your business acumen in the context of the insurance industry at a global Fortune 100 company. You will develop a broad knowledge base in cybersecurity and how it is applied within the insurance sector, preparing you for a successful career in this field. The Cybersecurity Co-op position is an excellent opportunity for students to gain practical experience and develop their skills in a fast-paced work environment. You will be expected to work full-time from January to June 2025, and you must have permanent work authorization in the United States. This role is not just about learning; it’s about contributing to meaningful projects that impact the organization and its clients.

Responsibilities

  • Audit Liberty Mutual's internal control systems.
  • Interview personnel to gather information for audits.
  • Perform test work and analyze results of audits.
  • Communicate audit issues effectively to relevant stakeholders.
  • Develop a broad knowledge base in cybersecurity as it relates to the insurance industry.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science, or equivalent major.
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
  • 0-2 years of professional experience.
  • Detail-oriented and able to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Working knowledge of cybersecurity principles and practices, strategies, and methodologies.
  • Understanding of network security engineering and administration concepts.
  • Familiarity with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery processes and tools, testing frameworks, and practices.
  • Knowledge of cloud networking concepts and network security controls.
  • Exposure to scripting automation and analytics using Python.
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, or other public cloud environments.
