About the position

The Cybersecurity Data Analyst is responsible for analyzing data to enhance and optimize cybersecurity efforts. This role involves developing and reporting on key performance indicators to assess the effectiveness of cybersecurity programs. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders and includes multiple specialties within the cybersecurity data analyst category.

Responsibilities

• Extract data from various databases
• Perform exploratory data analysis, cleanse, massage, and aggregate data
• Employ scaling & automation to data preparation techniques
• Determine analytics approach to solve problems
• Connect insights to security decision-making options and next steps testing or research opportunities
• Understand initiatives and serve as primary analytic resource in discussions with partners to define security questions
• Drive creation of final insights package and recommendations
• Direct analytic component of implementation of insights into security processes and ensure appropriate testing takes place
• Develop project proposals, gain stakeholder buy-in, and ensure timelines are met
• Promote and advocate the value of advanced analytics to solve security problems within the department
• Mentor data security analysts

Requirements

• At least three years of experience in cybersecurity with at least 1 year of that experience in data analysis
• Good communication and customer relationship skills
• Working knowledge of Splunk SPL
• Strong communication skills both written and verbal
• Proficiency in Python
• Experience with Natural Language Processing
• Background in Data Science
• Detail-oriented, self-motivated, proactive, and results-driven
• Ability to work well with others and promote a positive team environment
• Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment
• Experience with reporting tools and previously developed reports
• Excellent team leadership and team building skills
• Ability to perform critical thinking in data analysis
• Excellent analytical and troubleshooting abilities with attention to detail
