In the Cyber Solutions Innovation Center, we apply our expertise in cybersecurity and information system engineering to enhance the security of the nation's cyber systems. The Cyber Resiliency Department, where this position is located, specializes in Cross Domain Solutions (CDS) and provides critical expertise to support MITRE sponsors across the government. As a Cybersecurity Engineer, Lead, you will engage in hands-on cybersecurity engineering analysis and system integration, addressing complex challenges that directly impact our sponsors' missions. You will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver effective solutions in a dynamic environment. In this role, you will support the Cross Domain Support Element (CDSE), which is responsible for analyzing and approving engineering approaches and cross-domain systems for the agency. Your responsibilities will include conducting technical requirements outreach sessions, identifying tools and frameworks for data integration, engaging with senior government staff, and reviewing cross-domain solution designs. This position requires a strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across various teams.

Responsibilities

  • Support technical requirements outreach sessions with sponsor stakeholders to identify existing data sources, formats, and interfaces.
  • Identify tools, frameworks, and methods to help integrate disparate structured and unstructured data sources across the sponsor's work program.
  • Engage with senior government staff, including the agency Chief Information Security Officer, on cross-domain issues.
  • Serve as a key member of the agency Cross Domain Services Element.
  • Represent the agency Cross-Domain Services Officer in discussions with cross-domain owners.
  • Review cross-domain solution designs and recommend approval, changes, etc.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical field such as Cyber Security, Computer Science, Engineering, Technology, or related field and 8+ years of applicable experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance is required for consideration.
  • Documented success working with cross-domain solutions.
  • 5 years of experience working in government or industry in relevant work areas including DoD/IC Cross-Domain Systems and Requirements Processes.
  • Understanding and experience in Mission Assurance and Supply Chain Risk Management.
  • Basic understanding of the role of standards and how they are used to design and implement secure, resilient systems.
  • Working knowledge of NIST SP 800-53, ICD-503, Raise the Bar, and other US Government CDS guidance.
  • Superior customer engagement and communication skills to work seamlessly across MITRE, government, and contractor teams.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to succinctly capture salient issues and provide seniors with fact-based, actionable, and relevant technical solutions.
  • Experience collaborating and coordinating with the Intelligence Community cross-domain community.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree in an applicable cybersecurity-related field.
  • CISSP, CCSP, or other cyber certification.
  • Prior professional experience in the US Intelligence Risk Management.
  • Hands-on knowledge of CDS architectures, file filtering, data streaming, XML and JSON schemas.
  • A working knowledge of Executive Order 14028, National Security Memo 8, Raise the Bar, and all related publications from the National Cross Domain Strategy Management Office (NCDSMO).
