About the position

The Cybersecurity Engineer (Network) at Discover Financial Services is responsible for analyzing, designing, and developing security solutions that align with corporate technology goals and risk tolerance levels. This role involves serving as a subject matter expert for security technologies, managing relationships with security partners, and ensuring compliance with audit and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities

• Analyzes, designs, and develops security solutions with Cybersecurity architects.
• Serves as the subject matter expert for supported security technologies during escalations.
• Validates current and future state architectural models to assess impact across assigned Cybersecurity technology systems.
• Oversees security requirements and technical specifications to guide project implementation.
• Provides direction to infrastructure, operations, data, and application development groups during the transition and implementation phases.
• Manages relationships with security partners and vendors.
• Maintains knowledge of engineering next-gen designs, security trends, threats, and attack techniques.
• Ensures compliance with audit, regulatory, and legal requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Informatics, Information Security, Information Technology or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in Information Security, Application Security, Security Engineering or related.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Palo Alto firewalls and the Panorama management console.
• Knowledge of IDS / IPS.
• Familiarity with AWS Security Groups.
• Experience with Python, Terraform, Ansible.
• General networking knowledge (routing/switches).
• Understanding of public cloud security.
• General security awareness skills.
