About the position

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Cybersecurity Engineer to join their team in Washington, DC. This role focuses on ensuring the security of the organization's IT infrastructure through the administration of firewalls, vulnerability management, and compliance with security standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in network security, incident response, and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Administer and manage Palo Alto or Cisco firewalls and network security appliances.
• Conduct vulnerability scanning and management using tools like Tenable Nessus and Qualys.
• Analyze network traffic and security events on Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Implement and assess compliance with security baselines and controls such as CIS Benchmark and NIST 800-53.
• Support annual audits and the ATO review process, providing necessary artifacts.
• Maintain knowledge of modern adversarial techniques and incident response procedures.
• Utilize Log aggregation/SIEM tools like Splunk for security monitoring and analysis.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in cybersecurity or related field.
• Experience with Palo Alto or Cisco firewall administration.
• Familiarity with vulnerability scanners and management, preferably Tenable Nessus and Qualys.
• Fundamental knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Experience with RMF, A&A, IV&V, and continuous monitoring.
• Ability to implement and assess compliance with security controls.
• Experience with Log aggregation/SIEM tools such as Splunk.
• Strong communication skills to interact with peers and senior leadership.
• Ability to make timely decisions based on risk assessment.

• Experience with AWS and Azure cloud environments.
