The Cybersecurity Engineer, Operational Technology at Georgetown University is tasked with securing both existing and new business processes that support the institution's technology modernization and expansion strategies. This role is pivotal in designing security solutions that not only protect the business and its customers but also enable the organization to execute and innovate effectively. The engineer will leverage their in-depth understanding of emerging trends and technologies in IT security and compliance to contribute to the university's IT security strategy and roadmap. In this position, the engineer will possess a strong understanding of traditional telephony systems and their applications, focusing on security and the current threat landscape. They will be expected to address contemporary issues while also anticipating future industry developments, proactively delivering secure solutions. The role requires a mindset that thinks like an adversary, identifying potential vulnerabilities and how solutions could be exploited by attackers. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential, as the engineer will coordinate with various stakeholders and technical staff across the university. The Cybersecurity Engineer will report to the Director of Operational Technology Security and will be an integral member of the Cybersecurity Operational Technology (COT) team. They will work closely with UIS divisions and stakeholders on cyber threats, risks, remediations, and preventive measures, while also engaging in daily cybersecurity operations. This role involves maintaining close contact with customer-facing business units, including the power plant, Facilities Management, telecommunications, Medical Center, GUPD, EH&S, and external partners, as well as frequent interactions with network operations and academic departments.
