About the position

The Cybersecurity Engineer/Server Administrator role at Oneida Technical Solutions involves supporting the cybersecurity needs of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, NY. The position focuses on the configuration, administration, and security of servers, both on-premises and in the Azure cloud. The role requires assessing cybersecurity vulnerabilities, advising on design and implementation, and ensuring continuous monitoring and compliance with cybersecurity regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assessing server cybersecurity vulnerabilities and risks and providing mitigation recommendations.
• Advising the customer on design and implementation options for desired capabilities.
• Documentation and testing of security controls.
• Continuous monitoring of server capabilities and data, vulnerability remediation, configuration, and operation.
• Assist with defining Host Based Security Systems (HBSS), Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Assist the customer in defining server best practices in a MS Azure commercial cloud environment.
• Track and perform annual re-evaluation of Cyber regulations, policies, guidelines, standards, and procedures.
• Function as the organizational ambassador for server security and support the organization's vision and strategic direction.
• Demonstrate proficiency in understanding and implementing best practices for complex IT projects.
• Active participation in activities related to server life cycle.
• Cultivate and maintain effective working relationships with various stakeholders.
• Translate technical terminology into business terms and recommend alternatives.

Requirements

• Intermediate System Administrator, Vulnerability Assessor, or Security Control Assessor certification (Security+, GSEC, etc.).
• Experience with Windows Server Administration using Azure Virtual Machines.
• Knowledge of configuration management and quality assurance concepts such as AGILE, ITIL, IEEE, NIST, SEI, CMMI, and PMBOK.
• Knowledge of NIST Special Publication 800-53.
• Knowledge of DoD Risk Management Framework (e.g., DoD Instruction 8510.01).
• Experience with Server Admin compliance Software.
• Familiarity with IT Ticketing systems.
• Experience as Server Admin in a commercial cloud environment.
• Technical knowledge of current technology and emerging trends.
• Experience with lifecycle Server Management in physical and MS Azure cloud environments.
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
• Ability to build relationships across a diverse stakeholder environment.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented.
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's Degree in a related technical discipline; or an Associate's Degree with 3+ years of experience.
• CISSM, CISSP or equivalent certification.
• Experience with Steel Cloud ConfigOS compliance Software.
• Knowledge of Army's Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS).
• Experience with Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) findings and resolution.
