About the position

The Cybersecurity Engineer position at Abbott is a critical role responsible for the day-to-day management of the IT security infrastructure. This position involves assisting in articulating technical security requirements, monitoring the effectiveness of the existing IT security framework, and making recommendations for enhancements to raise the level of security awareness across the organization. The role is part of a dedicated security team that safeguards the infrastructure and information of the company on a global scale. The Cybersecurity Engineer will engage in the design, implementation, monitoring, maintenance, and configuration of key security services that align with the business's strategic goals and initiatives. In this role, the Cybersecurity Engineer will establish strong collaborative relationships with various groups within the organization. They will be responsible for analyzing and creating detailed technical and functional data specifications, data architecture, security policies, and standards. Additionally, the role includes establishing data governance to ensure data integrity and security throughout the organization. The Cybersecurity Engineer will also be accountable for complying with the applicable elements of the Global Quality Framework and the Corporate Quality Management System (QMS). The position offers the opportunity to develop and maintain secure, resilient enterprise-grade cloud infrastructure for multiple software products and support systems, working closely with architects and system engineers. The Cybersecurity Engineer will collaborate with development teams throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) to implement monitoring and security solutions within embedded product software and supporting applications. They will also perform or support security testing, such as penetration tests and audits, and coordinate remediation efforts as necessary. Furthermore, the role involves optimizing system security design by creating and reviewing architecture and detailed design solutions that reflect best practices, supporting breach and incident response activities, and implementing technical security solutions for both host-based and containerized architectures.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day IT security infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years of cybersecurity or IT management system experience, preferably with product security experience.
  • Holds or is working toward multiple cybersecurity certifications such as CCSP, CISSP, or AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner.
  • Self-motivated and well-organized with the ability to anticipate threats.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with containerized environments.
  • Knowledge of container orchestration tools, such as Kubernetes.
