The Cybersecurity Engineer position at Augusta University is a critical role responsible for supporting the institution, including AU Health and its affiliates, in the realm of cybersecurity. This position focuses on safeguarding the organization's networks, systems, and sensitive data. The Cybersecurity Engineer will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and supporting Enterprise Security tools and programs, particularly with an emphasis on networking infrastructure. This role requires providing technical guidance and hands-on engineering to ensure that security tools are effectively implemented to meet security objectives. As a Network Security Subject Matter Expert (SME), the Cybersecurity Engineer will actively participate in the design and build of IT projects, steering network configurations and services such as Network Access Control, Network Authentication, routing and switching, firewalls, segmentation, and overall network architecture towards industry-leading security standards. In addition to design and implementation responsibilities, the Cybersecurity Engineer will provide daily oversight of network security tools and their operations. This includes assessing the security impact of proposed modifications, additions, and technology refresh operations. The role also involves performing investigative research and analysis to troubleshoot, identify, resolve, and report complex security issues. The Cybersecurity Engineer will work closely with other team members and management to ensure that security protocols are adhered to and that incidents are documented and reported appropriately. This position is essential for maintaining the integrity and security of Augusta University's IT infrastructure, which supports a diverse community of students, faculty, staff, and healthcare providers.
