About the position

As a Cybersecurity Engineer at Lockheed Martin, you will be an integral part of a dynamic security engineering team dedicated to developing and delivering innovative cyber solutions for government customers. This role involves a collaborative approach to planning, designing, developing, validating, and verifying cybersecurity solutions throughout their lifecycle. You will work closely with both cyber and non-cyber teams to ensure a comprehensive understanding of requirements and to facilitate effective engagement and solution implementation. Your contributions will include assisting in the development of Cyber Plans and Procedures, ensuring that all solutions meet the necessary security standards and protocols. In this position, you will apply your technical skills and knowledge of both Linux and Windows operating systems to support various cybersecurity tasks. You will be expected to demonstrate technical curiosity and a willingness to learn new skills, contributing to the overall success of the team. Your understanding of vulnerability scanning and patching will be crucial in identifying and mitigating potential security risks. Additionally, you will need to maintain an active TS/SCI Security Clearance, which is a requirement for this role, ensuring that you can handle sensitive information appropriately. The ideal candidate will possess a foundational understanding of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and NIST SP 800-53, which will guide your approach to cybersecurity engineering. You will also have the opportunity to further develop your skills in System Security Engineering (SSE) principles and processes, enhancing your ability to contribute to the security posture of the organization. This position is full-time and requires onsite work at a designated Lockheed Martin facility, with the possibility of flexible work schedules, including a 4x10 hour workweek that provides three days off each week.

Responsibilities

  • Apply an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to assist with planning, design, development, validation and verification of Cyber solutions across the lifecycle.
  • Serve as cyber representative to non-cyber teams supporting requirements understanding, collaborative engagement, and solution identification and implementation.
  • Assist with development of Cyber Plans and Procedures.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with Linux and Windows operating systems.
  • Technical curiosity to learn new skills and are ready to help across the team.
  • Team Player.
  • Understanding of vulnerability scanning and/or patching.
  • Security+ certification.
  • Active TS/SCI Security Clearance is required.
  • Base understanding of Risk Management Framework (RMF), NIST SP 800-53.

Nice-to-haves

  • Active Top-Secret Clearance (with investigation within 5 years).
  • Possess an approved DoD 8570 baseline certification for IAT Level II (CISSP, CAP, etc.).
  • Understanding of System Security Engineering (SSE) principles and process.
  • Knowledge of Windows Server Operating Systems (i.e., 2008 R2/2012/2016/2018/2022).
  • Knowledge of Linux Administration (RedHat 7.X, 8.X, 9.X).
  • Knowledge with Cisco, Juniper, or other networking products.
