At BAE Systems, a career as a Cybersecurity Engineer is both challenging and rewarding. This position reports directly to the Director of Cybersecurity and involves a variety of responsibilities centered around the design, prototyping, and support of security-related infrastructure and applications. The role requires the architecting, developing, and engineering of enterprise security tools, utilizing both commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) and open-source solutions. As a Cybersecurity Engineer, you will be expected to stay abreast of new technologies to effectively adapt to the evolving threat landscape. Your engineering duties will include the architecture and design of new enterprise tools, as well as the upgrade or replacement of existing infrastructure. You will work fluidly in a Linux or other shell command line environment, providing security application support with both commercial and open-source products. Additionally, you will develop automated scripts and create necessary documentation, including compliance documents, installation guides, network diagrams, configuration guides, user tutorials, and specifications. Researching, prototyping, and implementing new security-related technologies will be a key part of your role, as will collaborating closely with the 24/7 Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) to support their needs. You will be expected to work well within a team environment, receiving direction from senior engineers while also demonstrating initiative and a strong work ethic. The ideal candidate will possess strong troubleshooting skills, the ability to work independently, and a passion for cybersecurity. Your work will be reviewed upon completion to ensure it meets the objectives set forth, and you will represent the organization in providing solutions to complex technical issues associated with specific projects.
