Our internship program is designed to inspire interns to solve complex challenges while gaining real-world experience in their field of interest. Interns will have the opportunity to work with a variety of staff across multiple departments and learn about Exchange technology and operations through our robust Options Institute courses. The Cybersecurity Incident Response Intern position is part of the Global Cybersecurity Fusion Center team. This role is intended to provide exposure to various functions, tools, and activities focusing on detecting and responding to cybersecurity incidents. Interns will engage in hands-on experience with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), Security Orchestration Automation and Response (SOAR), Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), incident triage, and incident response. Interns will collaborate with members of the Cyber Security Team, Networking Engineering, and Infrastructure teams to triage and solve problems effectively. Throughout the internship, candidates will conduct incident triage in support of incident response investigations, develop comprehensive reports for both technical and non-technical audiences, and create scripts or tools to enhance Cboe Global Market's incident response processes. Interns will also stay updated on the latest cybersecurity threats and technologies, update procedures and methodologies to improve the incident response process, and assist the incident response team with day-to-day operational activities. This internship runs from June to August and concludes with a final presentation and retreat.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct incident triage in support of incident response investigations
  • Develop comprehensive reports for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Develop scripts or tools to enhance Cboe Global Market's incident response processes and capabilities
  • Keep up to date with the latest cybersecurity threats and technologies
  • Update procedures and methodologies to improve the incident response process
  • Assist incident response team with day-to-day operational activities

Requirements

  • Undergraduate student majoring in Information Security, Cyber Security, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience
  • Strong technology emphasis
  • Passion for learning and enthusiasm for cybersecurity
  • Basic knowledge of security concepts and best practices
  • Understanding of common security threats and vulnerabilities
  • Familiarity with common ports/services
  • Basic networking concepts
  • Basic Windows and Linux Operating System concepts
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products
