About the position

The Cybersecurity Lean Six Sigma MBB Consultant position at NOVACES is a full-time role based in Fort Belvoir, VA, requiring a minimum of three days on-site attendance per week. The consultant will provide Lean Six Sigma consulting services as a certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt for a Department of Defense (DoD) client. The primary responsibilities include offering expert advice and guidance to enhance the DoD's mission-oriented business functions, which encompasses management and strategy consulting, program planning, change management, auditing, assessments, and evaluations. The consultant will also conduct studies, analyses, scenarios, modeling, and reports related to the agency's business programs or initiatives. In this role, the consultant will lead Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) projects utilizing various improvement methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma, Business Process Reengineering (BPR), Theory of Constraints (ToC), Human-Centered Design (HCD), Agile Project Management (excluding software development), and Design for Six Sigma (DFSS). The consultant will be responsible for conducting pre-investment BPR analysis and advanced statistical analysis, as well as modeling and simulation to support process improvement initiatives. Coaching government personnel through project execution at all belt levels and providing guidance to Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) project leadership will be key components of the role. Additionally, the consultant will develop and conduct organizational CPI maturity assessments, support the execution of enterprise and organizational CPI deployments, and assist with government CPI governance and strategy. The role also involves preparing organizations for recognition in nationally accepted performance quality award programs, such as the Baldrige and Shingo awards, by providing actionable recommendations to enhance process performance. The consultant will maintain and utilize CAPER as the authoritative source for CPI projects, develop and deliver CPI training, and create CPI tools, templates, and marketing materials aligned with CPI goals and objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Lean Six Sigma consulting services as a certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt for a DoD client.
  • Offer expert advice, assistance, guidance, coaching, or counseling to improve DoD's mission-oriented business functions.
  • Conduct management and strategy consulting, program planning, change management, auditing, assessments, and evaluations.
  • Assist with and conduct studies, analyses, scenarios, modeling, and reports relating to an agency's mission-oriented business programs or initiatives.
  • Conduct CPI projects using various improvement methodologies (e.g., LSS, BPR, ToC, Lean, HCD, Agile Project Management, DFSS).
  • Provide pre-investment BPR analysis and advanced statistical analysis.
  • Support modeling, simulation, and other applicable approaches to improve processes.
  • Coach government personnel through project execution at all belt levels or equivalent methodologies throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide coaching to DLA project leadership and develop organizational CPI maturity assessments.
  • Support and assist execution of enterprise and organizational CPI deployments, including government CPI governance and strategy.
  • Prepare organizations for recognition in nationally accepted performance quality award programs (e.g., Baldrige and Shingo awards).
  • Provide specific actionable recommendations to improve DLA enterprise and organizational process performance.
  • Execute recommended process improvements and draft issuance improvements for government review and acceptance.
  • Maintain and utilize CAPER as the authoritative source for CPI projects.
  • Develop and deliver CPI training, tools, templates, and marketing materials specific to CPI goals and objectives.

Requirements

  • Five years of experience certified as a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt with a record of delivering a return on investment to clients.
  • Experience with CPI deployment for a large organization with over 25,000 employees.
  • Five years of consulting, advising, and working with federal government senior leaders (flag rank officers and senior executive service levels).
  • Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt certification is required.
