About the position

The Cybersecurity Metrics Analyst position at a leading transportation company in Fort Worth, TX, offers a unique opportunity to leverage cutting-edge technology to address business challenges in a collaborative environment. This role is part of a contract engagement with a Fortune 500 company, where top technical resources are retained for long-term projects. The analyst will be integral to the Cybersecurity Metrics and Reporting team, responsible for coordinating and overseeing the client's cybersecurity metrics program. In this role, the analyst will assist in the identification, measurement, and analysis of cybersecurity metrics, supporting the ongoing development and implementation of a robust metrics framework. The position requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including metric owners, technical teams, cybersecurity product teams, and executive stakeholders. The goal is to ensure the successful maintenance of cybersecurity risk metrics and their visibility to leadership, which is crucial for informed decision-making. The analyst will participate in all phases of the development process, advocating for agile methodologies and test-driven development. They will utilize object-oriented development tools to analyze, model, design, construct, and test reusable objects, continuously improving the codebase. This role demands excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies in cybersecurity data, as well as the ability to communicate complex concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Leverage cutting-edge technology to solve business problems in a collaborative environment.
  • Participate in all phases of the development process from inception through transition.
  • Advocate for the agile process and test-driven development.
  • Analyze, model, design, construct, and test reusable objects using object-oriented development tools.
  • Coordinate and oversee the client's cybersecurity metrics program.
  • Assist in the identification, measurement, and analysis of cybersecurity metrics.
  • Support the continued development and implementation of the metrics framework.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and ensure successful implementation of cybersecurity metrics.
  • Pull, test, and report cybersecurity metrics on a regular schedule to support business requirements.
  • Produce accurate and high-quality metrics reports for leadership, including the Board level.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience/training.
  • 3+ years of experience in identifying, measuring, analyzing, and reporting cybersecurity metrics.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to gather requirements.
  • Experience working in multiple cybersecurity domains to develop an understanding of relevant metrics and their implications.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies in cybersecurity data.
  • Experience with pulling, testing, and reporting cybersecurity metrics on a regular schedule.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively communicate complex cybersecurity metric concepts.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate and high-quality metrics reports.
  • Familiarity with industry best practices related to cybersecurity metrics and reporting.
  • Knowledge of industry-standard cybersecurity frameworks, such as NIST Cybersecurity Framework or ISO 27001.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency in using data analysis and visualization tools e.g. MS Office, PowerBI.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity risk assessment methodologies and tools.
  • Familiarity with various tools and technologies leveraged within cybersecurity and information technology programs.
  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements (e.g., TSA, FAA, PCI DSS).
  • Experience working in highly regulated industries such as finance, healthcare, or government.
