About the position

The Cybersecurity Network Engineer position at IS Technical Services is a critical role that operates under the direction of the IT Director. This position requires a highly analytical mindset and a comprehensive understanding of cybersecurity methodologies. The Engineer is expected to demonstrate meticulous attention to detail and outstanding problem-solving skills, particularly in high-pressure situations where tight deadlines must be met. The primary responsibility of the Engineer is to ensure the safety and success of the organization's network by showcasing a profound understanding of various security technologies. These include Firewalls, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), Web-Proxy, Secure Remote Access, audit logs, and Antivirus/Anti-Malware software. In addition to implementing security measures, the Engineer will conduct proactive vulnerability testing, risk analysis, and security assessments. This involves providing recommendations to management to enhance the organization's overall security posture. The role requires a comfort level with a variety of technologies, addressing security challenges, and troubleshooting network issues. Regular, full-time attendance during normal working hours is mandatory, emphasizing the importance of reliability in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct proactive vulnerability testing and risk analysis.
  • Perform security assessments and provide recommendations to management.
  • Configure and manage security technologies including Firewalls and DLP.
  • Monitor and analyze audit logs for security incidents.
  • Manage and patch Windows and Linux servers.
  • Support LANs, WANs, web servers, and both physical and virtual servers.
  • Troubleshoot network issues and address security challenges.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of cybersecurity trends and hacking techniques.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, IT, systems engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience with incident detection, response, and forensics.
  • Extensive experience in configuring and managing Windows and Linux host-based security.
  • Proficiency with Firewalls, Office 365 Security, and Endpoint Security.
  • Experience in audit log collection, review, and analysis.
  • Strong background in supporting LANs, WANs, web servers, and both physical and virtual servers.

Nice-to-haves

  • Industry certifications in cybersecurity and network systems (i.e., CISSP, CEH, CISM, CompTIA Security+).
  • Knowledge of server hardware, operating systems, virtualization tools (VMWare), and storage networking.
