About The Position

The Cybersecurity Operations Intern at Leidos will support the Defense Enclave Services team in a digital modernization program critical to DISA and Fourth Estate Agencies. This internship offers hands-on experience in cybersecurity operations, mentorship from experienced professionals, and the opportunity to take ownership of impactful tasks.

Requirements

  • Current enrollment in an accredited Bachelor's or Master's degree program pursuing a degree in Information Assurance, Information Security, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Experience and/or coursework in Cybersecurity/Information Security preferred.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work both in a team environment and perform individual tasks.
  • Must meet eligibility requirements for work assignment on specified contract.
  • U.S. Citizenship required per government contract.
  • Current DoDM 8570 IAT II Certification is required (Sec+ CE or equivalent).

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, operate and maintain security solutions and related technologies for clients with guidance.
  • Recommend security solution mitigations and enhancements supporting information assurance guidelines and customer requirements with guidance.
  • Perform vulnerability/risk analyses of computer systems and applications during all phases of the system development life cycle with guidance.
  • Operate integrated cybersecurity solutions and refine operational processes and procedures for evaluating, monitoring, remediating, and documenting information system security vulnerabilities and incidents with guidance.
  • Review and recommend updates to existing security tools, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure that all information systems meet or exceed compliance requirements under appropriate supervision.
  • Identify, report, and resolve security violations.
  • Gain experience performing various types of vulnerability and assessment scans with multiple tools.
  • Collaborate with peers and employees in other departments to improve security posture.
  • Monitor and review regular updates/upgrades to equipment and procedures to maintain pace with cybersecurity requirements and business needs.
  • Identify overall security requirements for the proper handling of Government data.
