About the position

Maximus is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Cybersecurity Policy Consultant to join our team supporting a critical Department of Defense (DoD) initiative. The Cybersecurity Policy Consultant will play a pivotal role in supporting DoD leadership in the development, implementation, and integration of cybersecurity policy and strategy. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of DoD cybersecurity policy, experience in developing strategy, and excellent communication and analytical skills. This role involves engaging with senior DoD stakeholders, collaborating with various agencies, and contributing to key cybersecurity initiatives at the enterprise level.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development, implementation, and integration of DoD cybersecurity policy, strategy, and initiatives.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to DoD leadership on cybersecurity planning and related outreach activities.
  • Collaborate with the Joint Staff, Combatant Commands, and other government agencies to align cybersecurity policies and initiatives.
  • Conduct research on evolving cybersecurity management methodologies and emerging technologies (e.g., 5G, cross-domain solutions, encryption).
  • Provide support for DoD cybersecurity compliance and verification efforts, including assisting in the design of compliance programs and scorecards.
  • Develop reports briefings, procedures, draft regulations, and guidelines to support DoD leadership decision-making.
  • Analyze enterprise-wide cybersecurity portfolios to identify and document requirements.
  • Assist in the development and execution of performance measurement strategies for DoD cybersecurity initiatives.

Requirements

  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business, Management, Cybersecurity, Information Systems).
  • 4 years of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.
  • Minimum of 5 general years of experience in cybersecurity or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of DoD cybersecurity policy, compliance, and risk management frameworks, including RMF.
  • Experience in organizational studies, process improvement, and business analysis.
  • Proficiency in developing reports, briefings, and documentation to support leadership decision-making.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity technologies and initiatives.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to conduct cost/benefit analysis, needs assessments, and requirements definition.
  • Experience working on large DoD contracts and engaging with senior government stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently, demonstrating originality and innovation in task execution.
