About the position

As the Cybersecurity Site Reliability Engineer (CSRE) at FreeWheel, a Comcast company, you will play a crucial role in merging cutting-edge cybersecurity measures with our advanced site reliability and development practices. This position is integral to protecting and optimizing the performance of our multi-digital platforms and infrastructure. In this role, you will work closely with engineering teams to integrate security into the software and cloud environments. This includes writing code and scripts to support Infrastructure as Code (IaC), configuration management, and automated security implementation and monitoring resolution. You will evaluate, test, and manage endpoint security solutions across various operating systems and container architectures. Additionally, you will partner with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver security solutions seamlessly into the system/application architecture and environments, conducting technical engineering analyses to ensure that security enhancements do not impede operational efficiency. You will also be responsible for monitoring and tuning system performance, ensuring optimal operation while enforcing security measures such as intrusion detection and prevention. Analyzing real-time security data will be essential to adjust and optimize system configurations, achieving a balance between security posture and system functionality. You will develop secure automation strategies that enhance infrastructure configuration and management without compromising security. Engaging with software and infrastructure engineers, you will advocate for and implement robust security controls, including cloud security, application security, access management, encryption, and endpoint protection. Your role will also involve providing technical expert guidance on security best practices, fostering a culture of proactive security across engineering disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Work with engineering teams to integrate security into software and cloud environments.
  • Write code and scripts to support Infrastructure as Code (IaC), configuration management, and automated security implementation.
  • Evaluate, test, and manage endpoint security solutions across various operating systems and container architectures.
  • Partner with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver security solutions seamlessly into system/application architecture.
  • Conduct technical engineering analyses to determine the impact of security software on application and infrastructure environments.
  • Monitor and tune system performance while enforcing security measures such as intrusion detection and prevention.
  • Analyze real-time security data to adjust and optimize system configurations.
  • Develop secure automation strategies that enhance infrastructure configuration and management.
  • Engage with software and infrastructure engineers to develop security solutions tailored to application workloads.
  • Advocate for and implement robust security controls, including cloud security, application security, access management, encryption, and endpoint protection.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of administration experience with Linux, AWS, and Kubernetes.
  • 5+ years of experience in configuration management using CloudFormation, Terraform, and Ansible or similar.
  • 5+ years of experience coding in higher-level languages such as Python, Java, or C++.
  • Proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS) and infrastructure as code (IaC) tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Expertise in containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) and operating systems (Ubuntu, Amazon Linux, CentOS).
  • Experience with technical security software deployment and management, as well as the development and enforcement of security policies.
