About the position

The Solutions Consultant role at Palo Alto Networks represents a significant evolution of the traditional Sales Engineering position, focusing on how we can best serve our customers in understanding their unique environments. This role is pivotal in providing solution guidance and ensuring that customers realize the full value of their investments with Palo Alto Networks. As a Solutions Consultant, you will provide technical leadership and expertise, guiding customers through their security transformation journeys. You will be instrumental in defining technical solutions that align with customers' key business imperatives, ensuring that they derive maximum value from their investments in our products and services. In this role, you will evangelize Palo Alto Networks' industry leadership across various domains, including on-premises, cloud, and security operations services. Your impact will be defined by your ability to meet and exceed sales quotas through the development and implementation of strategic technical account plans that target cross-platform solutions. You will conduct thorough discovery sessions to understand and articulate the key technical, operational, and commercial imperatives of your prospects and customers. Collaboration will be key, as you will work closely with Professional Services, Customer Success, and Specialist teams to ensure the successful implementation and adoption of solutions. Your strong communication skills will be essential as you influence stakeholders through effective presentations, customer-specific demos, technical engagements, and workshops. You will lead successful technical validation efforts based on best practices, ensuring a technical win in assigned opportunities. By orchestrating supporting resources, including Specialists, Channel Resources, and Customer Support, you will demonstrate a cohesive strategy that promotes end-to-end solutions, including PANW and/or partner professional services, to ensure customers realize business value sooner. Understanding the competitive landscape and effectively differentiating our leadership will be crucial to your success. Continuous self-investment in your technical and professional skills will be expected, as you actively participate within the Solutions Consultant community and at industry events. Building and cultivating relationships with key technical stakeholders will be vital in driving a security architecture transformation roadmap for your customers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and expertise in customers' security transformation journeys.
  • Define technical solutions that secure customers' key business imperatives.
  • Meet and exceed sales quotas by building and implementing strategic technical account plans.
  • Conduct discovery to understand and articulate key technical, operational, and commercial imperatives of prospects and customers.
  • Work closely with Professional Services, Customer Success, and Specialist teams to ensure overall customer implementation and adoption of solutions.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills and influence through effective presentations and customer-specific demos.
  • Lead successful technical validation efforts based on best practices to ensure technical win in assigned opportunities.
  • Orchestrate supporting resources to ensure a cohesive strategy.
  • Promote end-to-end solutions that include PANW and/or partner professional services.
  • Understand the competitive landscape and effectively differentiate our leadership.
  • Continuously invest in personal development and participate in the Solutions Consultant community.

Requirements

  • Understanding of data networking and/or modern application design and cloud architectures.
  • Experience delivering cybersecurity solutions that solve technical challenges and influence new business initiatives.
  • Ability to influence and gain buy-in from key stakeholders in customer-facing or internal roles; prior experience in a pre-sales role is ideal.
  • Experience creating and delivering technical presentations, workshops, or technical validation engagements.
  • Experience in selling, designing, implementing, or managing solutions such as Network Security, SASE, SaaS, CNAPP, and/or SOC Transformation Technologies.
  • Experience partnering with Customer Support functions to ensure successful implementation and adoption of sold solutions.
  • Experience with complex sales involving long sales processes with multiple buying centers and multi-product solutions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a pre-sales role is ideal.
  • Familiarity with the competitive landscape in cybersecurity solutions.
