About the position

Parsons is seeking talented Systems Engineers to join our dynamic team, where you will be at the forefront of defensive cyber operations and cyber development. In this role, you will be challenged to design and develop innovative solutions that integrate into and enhance the state of the art of remote-enabled defensive cyber operations. You will have the opportunity to work on high-level cyber development projects that support national defense programs, making a significant impact in the field. We offer positions in various locations including Columbia, MD; Herndon, VA; Oceanside, CA; and Tampa, FL, with options for hybrid and remote work available. This role requires approximately 10% travel and the ability to obtain a US government security clearance. As a Systems Engineer, you will assist in identifying and integrating open source, commercial, and government-owned capabilities into a government-owned Kubernetes-enabled platform. Your contributions will be vital in advancing our capabilities in defensive cyber operations, and you will work alongside a team of intelligent and diverse professionals who share a common goal of excellence in service delivery. Responsibilities

  • Design and develop solutions for remote-enabled defensive cyber operations.
  • Integrate open source, commercial, and government-owned capabilities into a Kubernetes-enabled platform.
  • Collaborate with a distributed team using git for version control.
  • Utilize virtualization and infrastructure-as-code automation tools such as Ansible and Puppet.
  • Manage containerization using Docker, Podman, and similar technologies.
  • Perform networking tasks including configuration and packet capture analysis.
  • Administer Linux systems and write shell scripts for automation.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field; additional experience may suffice in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in systems or software development/engineering roles.
  • Proficiency in Python programming language.
  • Strong knowledge of DevOps practices and tools.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code automation tools (Ansible, Puppet).
  • Experience with Kubernetes and containerization technologies (Docker, Podman).
  • Strong networking skills, including configuration and packet capture analysis.
  • Extensive experience in Linux systems administration, including shell scripting.
  • Ability to use git for collaboration in a distributed team environment.
  • Knowledge of key cybersecurity concepts, technologies, and methodologies.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Windows administration experience, including PowerShell scripting.
  • Experience working with LTAC.
  • Experience supporting US Government DCO missions.
  • Familiarity with defensive cyberspace TTPs.
  • Knowledge and experience with Risk Management Framework (RMF).
  • Experience with ACAS or Nessus vulnerability scanning tools.
  • Experience with Elastic and Kibana, including dashboard creation and data ingestion.
