About the position

The Cybersecurity Systems Engineer (CSSE) role at Northrop Grumman involves assessing and evaluating cybersecurity requirements for the Sentinel program. The position focuses on deriving and refining system cybersecurity requirements, guiding security architecture, and ensuring compliance with cybersecurity standards. The CSSE will work collaboratively with various teams to support the development and enhancement of missile defense systems, ensuring that cybersecurity protections are effectively integrated and functional.

Responsibilities

  • Work within the Cybersecurity Engineering Group to provide technical decisions and guidance for product deliveries and flight test events.
  • Collaborate with program systems engineers across Integrated Product Teams to meet mission objectives.
  • Support the development and enhancement of Launch and Missile Defense systems as part of a specialized cybersecurity team.
  • Participate in cybersecurity assessment activities and review assessment methods, plans, procedures, and reports.
  • Ensure weapon system compliance with cybersecurity standards and guidance.
  • Propose and design systems architecture changes with traceability to requirements.
  • Provide Cyber implementation guidance and oversight across technical teams.
  • Develop and document technical standard engineering processes and procedures as needed.
  • Identify problems and research technical solutions to resolve these problems.
  • Apply analytical methods to issues concerning Cyber Security implementation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 2+ years of experience in Systems Engineering, Cybersecurity Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science; or a Master's degree with 0+ years of experience; or 6 years of experience in a related field in lieu of a degree.
  • Direct experience utilizing NIST 800-160 system security engineer and/or the system development life cycle.
  • Direct experience in Systems Engineering activities such as requirements decomposition, architecture, design, implementation, integration, and verification & validation.
  • Experience supporting the development of RMF assessment and authorization artifacts in accordance with NIST SP 800-37.
  • A current/active DoD Secret clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • IASAE level III certified (ISSEP, ISSAP) in accordance with DoD 8140.
  • Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance with preference for SAP briefing on the Sentinel program.
  • Software Assurance experience.
  • Expertise with Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE) and related tools such as DOORS and Cameo.
  • Knowledge of Cyber Security Engineering practices and network technologies.
  • Experience innovating in Cybersecurity Accreditation processes in a multi-certification context.
