About the position

As a Cybersecurity Weapon System Engineer, you will apply your technical expertise and guidance on the cybersecurity aspects of weapon systems and space systems. This role involves close collaboration with the Booz Allen Cyber-physical Defense team and other stakeholders to identify, assess, and mitigate cyber threats and vulnerabilities that could impact mission success in the weapon and space domain. You will support the development and implementation of cybersecurity solutions, mitigations, and best practices specifically tailored for space systems and operations. Your responsibilities will include conducting cyber threat analysis and Mission-based Cyber Risk Assessments for weapon and space system operations, which encompass satellites, ground stations, and command and control networks. You will provide cybersecurity recommendations and solutions based on industry standards and best practices, ensuring that weapon and space system operations are secure and resilient against cyber threats. Additionally, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining comprehensive cybersecurity documentation, including procedures, plans, reports, and briefings. Coordination and collaboration with internal and external partners, including other government agencies, industry, and academia, will be essential in addressing cybersecurity issues and initiatives related to weapon and space system operations. You will also play a key role in providing cybersecurity training and awareness for space defense personnel and other stakeholders, ensuring that they are equipped with the knowledge to recognize and respond to cyber threats. Staying abreast of the latest cybersecurity trends, technologies, and threats in the space domain will be crucial to your success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Apply technical expertise and guidance on cybersecurity aspects of weapon and space systems.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate cyber threats and vulnerabilities affecting mission success.
  • Support the development and implementation of cybersecurity solutions and best practices for space systems.
  • Conduct cyber threat analysis and Mission-based Cyber Risk Assessments for weapon and space system operations.
  • Provide cybersecurity recommendations and solutions based on industry standards and best practices.
  • Develop and maintain cybersecurity documentation, including procedures, plans, reports, and briefings.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with internal and external partners on cybersecurity issues and initiatives.
  • Provide cybersecurity training and awareness for space defense personnel and other stakeholders.
  • Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity trends, technologies, and threats in the space domain.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience with cybersecurity in Department of Defense (DoD) weapon systems, including their architectures, functions, and vulnerabilities.
  • Experience with cybersecurity principles, frameworks, standards, and best practices, including NIST, ISO, and CIS.
  • Experience with cybersecurity analysis, assessment, and mitigation for weapon and space system operations using tools and methods.
  • Experience with red team penetration testing or offensive penetration testing, or cyber threat emulation.
  • Knowledge of cyber threat actors, tactics, techniques, and procedures, and their implications for weapon and space system operations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, under pressure and with tight deadlines.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
  • Secret clearance required.
  • Cybersecurity Certification, including CISSP, CISM, CEH, or OSCP.
  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or Engineering.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in working with a space defense team or government agencies on cybersecurity issues and initiatives related to weapon and space system operations.
  • Experience in developing and delivering cybersecurity training and awareness for space defense personnel and other stakeholders.
  • Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • TS/SCI clearance preferred.
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
