This position is located in the Department of Defense (DoD), Office of the Chief Information Officer (CIO). The Cybersecurity Workforce Analyst will play a crucial role in enhancing national and homeland security by providing high-quality technical support and strategic recommendations related to workforce management practices. The successful candidate will be an organized self-starter capable of performing tasks independently while also thriving in a team environment. This role involves assisting government personnel by delivering consistent and responsive support, which will directly influence recruiting and retention initiatives in support of DoD CIO activities. Key duties include researching, analyzing, and identifying DoD and federal IT skill gaps and their root causes, as well as recommending strategies to mitigate these gaps in cyber workforce positions. The analyst will draft analyses and recommendations to meet functional community management lifecycle reporting requirements and provide ad-hoc support for various Congressional response requirements associated with cyber workforce management. Additionally, the role involves preparing responses to media requests, writing newsletter articles, and providing website content to share insights on DoD cyber workforce trends and the status of ongoing workforce initiatives. The analyst will analyze workforce data and prepare cyber workforce reports to meet requirements imposed by the Secretary of Defense, the U.S. Congress, the Government Accountability Office, the Office of Management and Budget, or the Office of Personnel Management. Conducting research and analysis to identify cyber workforce trends, assessing the overall health of the DoD cyber workforce, and developing strategic workforce documents are also key responsibilities. The analyst will monitor congressional positions and actions affecting cyber workforce management and recommend Defense positions accordingly. Furthermore, the role requires writing briefings and large-scale reports (15-30 pages) to convey the status of the DoD cyber workforce and preparing oral reports on cyber workforce matters to senior executives, managers, or other Defense/Federal stakeholders.
