About the position

Vanair has been a leader in Mobile Power Solutions since 1972, providing air compressors, generators, welders, hydraulics, Electrified Power Equipment, and engine starters. We are seeking an experienced Quality Technician to join our team in Michigan City, Indiana. The Cycle Counter will be responsible for monitoring warehouse inventory and performing cycle counting duties to ensure that all materials are accurately reflected in reported inventory and are in proper warehouse locations. This role will assist management in developing and implementing a formal cycle counting program, as well as performing miscellaneous stockroom activities to maintain inventory accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Cycle count raw materials, packaging materials, finished goods, and non-conforming materials on a daily basis.
  • Ensure materials are in proper locations and conduct searches to locate misclassified inventory.
  • Document any noted damage, deterioration, or revision level problems with inventory for review for proper disposition or repair.
  • Open cartons, bundles, and other containers to count items and/or weigh materials to determine quantity on hand.
  • Report discrepancies of over/under amounts and any damaged products to supervision, publishing weekly and quarterly inventory metrics.
  • Perform root cause analysis on inventory discrepancies and recommend process improvements.
  • Work with key personnel to implement process improvements to optimize overall location accuracy.
  • Assist in receiving and put away process.
  • Assist in transfers to and from production area.
  • Breakdown boxes and pallets as necessary to fit shelving.
  • Sweep floors on a routine basis in conjunction with others.
  • Ensure all safety rules are strictly observed.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and orderly warehouse appearance.
  • Work extended hours/over-time as needed, including some Saturdays.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required; one year of factory related experience in shipping and receiving.
  • Organized thought process with high attention to detail and ability to produce accurate results.
  • Effective prioritization to meet scheduled deadlines and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proven time management skills with the ability to respond to time-critical issues.
  • Customer service focus with the ability to build and maintain strong working and supplier relationships.
  • Excellent work ethic; ability to work self-directed and as a flexible team player.
  • Professional attitude and ability to represent the company with integrity.
  • Ability to adapt to change in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Required to read and write English, follow verbal instructions, and use simple math.
  • Comfortable using a PC with software packages, including Microsoft Office.
