About the position

The Cyclotron Engineer at Curium Pharma is responsible for overseeing the technical operations of cyclotrons, including monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting, and training. This role ensures the efficient production of radiopharmaceuticals while minimizing downtime and adhering to safety regulations. The engineer will also serve as a technical expert and mentor, guiding other personnel in cyclotron operations and maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and direct daily operations and routine maintenance of cyclotrons and support equipment.
  • Perform, coordinate, and lead department troubleshooting activities for cyclotron equipment.
  • Plan, organize, schedule, direct and/or execute major maintenance, repairs, and upgrade project work for cyclotrons and associated support systems.
  • Serve as the primary after-hours point of contact for site leadership regarding cyclotron equipment problems.
  • Develop and author preventative maintenance and operations procedures for cyclotrons and support equipment.
  • Promote cyclotron operations equipment design and process improvements to enhance reliability and reduce costs.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work performed.
  • Identify critical parts and manage on-site inventory levels.
  • Guide non-technically skilled personnel in mechanical repairs to cyclotrons.
  • Monitor trend analysis and track cyclotron performance data.
  • Ensure compliance with safety guidelines and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Electronics or a related field; Bachelor Degree in Engineering or Physics preferred.
  • Three or more years of relevant experience in component level electronics troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Three or more years of cyclotron experience in the production of radiopharmaceutical products preferred.
  • Experience in maintaining and troubleshooting high power RF systems, general purpose test equipment, advanced test equipment, solid state and vacuum tube electronics, analog and digital circuits, logic circuits/PLCs, high voltage DC power equipment, and vacuum systems.
  • Experience working around ionizing radiation sources and using radiation field survey meters.
  • Good mechanical inclination and proficiency with hand and power tools.
  • Excellent technical troubleshooting skills with and without schematics.
  • Ability to work independently and provide practical solutions to technical problems.
  • Leadership abilities to direct and manage the technical work of others.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with pneumatics, hydraulics, and water cooling systems.
  • Experience with helium and ultrasonic leak test equipment.
  • Experience in PLC and HMI programming.
